Sharing Opinions

One person's terrorist is another person's freedom fighter.

Discuss.

The idea and methodology behind this new style of blog task was covered in class.

Try to develop arguments.  Try to propose ideas and then challenge them.

Try to get some 'back and forth' debate going.

At all times you must remain respectful of the opinions of others.

Learn to disagree resepctfully.

Science - Any Good?

Find a scientist, inventor or theorist and post what they are notable for.

You must choose an discoveryinvention or theory that you think important and justify why.

Margaret Thatcher pioneered the development of the process that allows manufacturers to put air into ice cream...but I don't think it's that important!

I feel therefore I do...

Somatic Markers

People often base decisions on how they feel, snap judgments, impulses, or intuition. It is certainly faster and easier than analysis, investigation, and deliberation.

The somatic-marker theory was proposed by Antonio Damasio.

To what extent fo you agree that making quick judgements based on knowledge and intuition is a valid method of decision making?

Is intuition a useful way of knowing?

Terence

Name of Roman/Irish Origin.
Famously the name of Roman Satirist.
Means gracious and tender.

I think that people do grow into their names however I feel that they grow into the reputation that goes with their names.  I think that Kates, Sarahs, Claires etc... tend to be a certain type of person more through a cultural unconscious than by actively growing into the meaning of the name.  I think that as names, characteristics too, are passed through generations of families.

In terms of my name.  I'm not sure I'm that gracious as I have difficulty with accepting praise and showing gratitude.  Tender?  Well what does that even mean?

Questionnaires and Psychometrics

Go here and try this...

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes3.asp

This is what I came out as...

 You are:
  • moderately expressed introvert
  • distinctively expressed intuitive personality
  • slightly expressed thinking personality
  • moderately expressed perceiving personality

...it's totally wrong.

Have a go, read the questions, answer them carefully, post your profile in a post and then answer the question very carefully and with thought.  Refer to specific aspects of the questionnaire in your response.

Question

How close did you feel the outcome was to your personality type?

Very simply...why doesn't this questionnaire work at all (for some people)...maybe?
